It seems that hackers are starting to get lazy nowadays, as it has been reported that someone has ported the old trojan and named it "Tsunami".
It is apparently a DDoS-type bug that allows the person conducting the attack to issue live commands through an IRC channel. Not only can they issue direct commands to the infected machine, but they can also download any files they wish to as well. It is very similar to the previous incarnation in the way that it operates, and investigators believe that it is still in a developmental phase (because more than one version has been issued in a short amount of time. However, according to a ComputerWorld, researchers have been "unable to pin down how Tsunami's controllers infected Macs with the Trojan; Bureau also said that ESET wasn't sure what tactic attackers were using to plant the malware on machines," which could mean bad news if nobody is able to do so.
For the time being, this is being labeled a very minor threat, but is still important. According to another article, Graham Cluley stated that "Mac users are reminded that even though there is far less malware in existence for Mac OS X than for Windows, that doesn't mean the problem is non-existent," which is something that Mac users, including myself, tend to forget.
